Ben Barnes to Play Aro?

Ben Barnes has cast his hat in the ring for the Twilight movie sequel New Moon. Apparently he felt to old to play any of the “teen” characters but since New Moon will require MANY new cast members including the Italian vampires called the Volturi and of course Jacob Black’s werewolf pack, there is room for more mature talent. Ben is 27.
MTV News has confirmed that 27-year-old “Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” heartthrob Ben Barnes is throwing his hat into the ring. The actor is already quite popular with the “Twilight” fanbaseand shares the same manager as both Copon and “Twilight” star Cam Gigandet. Barnes is believed to be campaigning for the role of Aro, a mind-reading vampire whose “New Moon” encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together.
I for one am THRILLED about this potential development. I am insanely in love with Ben Barnes and I might have to switch to Team Aro! If he is cast as Aro then we will also see him in the third movie, Eclipse and the 4th movie (if they make it, Breaking Dawn.

Ben Barnes shouldn’t play Aro. I don’t have anything against him, I don’t know of him, never seen him act, but Aro is described in the book as ‘Old and Frail’ – Although the movie can change what they wish, I believe they should try to keep the characters as close as possible, and although Ben is 27, he is as far from Old and Frail as a guy could get… I don’t think it would work.

Can I just ask Fiona where about in New Moon Aro is described as frail??? Yes I agree that in AGE the Volturi are described as old but so is Dr Cullen he is over 300 years old BUT is NOT physically old looking. So why would Aro, Caius and Marcus be OLD LOOKING. Are we then to believe that they were turned into vampires when they were old. I thought all the vampires were meant to be beautiful that is part of their attraction for humans.
I personally think he is a great choice. I just hope the cast Cius and Marcus as well.
Ok, maybe not ‘Frail’, that’s just how a mate of mine descrived Aro, but he [i]is[/i] described as fragile looking. I don’t know the desciption word for word, but I can’t imagine an actor like Ben to play what I have interpretted Stephanies (sp?) description as Aro to be… Just a personal opinion, and more than one of my friends agree with me after reading New Moon for themselves.

he cannot play Aro! he doesn’t fit the role at all! Dakota fanning is a weird, yet good choice for jane, I can see her doing the evil vampire…

I think that Ben should play Aro in New Moon. Even if he’s not a good person to play Aro, Ben CAN DEFINITLEY ACT! Ben would make a BLOODY BRILLIANT Italian vampire. He doesn’t even look that old my my opinion. I’m hoping that you get the role, Ben!
{Crying} I’ve just found out that Ben Barnes didn’t get the role of Aro. I think it said that he has to act in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie instead. It’s a bummer for him because he really wanted that part and to be in New Moon. Well, I’ll be waiting for the next Narnia movie to come out and the next Twilight saga. Good Luck next time, Ben!!!

i think ben barnes would be a great aro. Also I think that he could be marcus too. They should offer Johnny Depp a roll as marcus or aro.. not caius, because he is blond and i don’t think blond will look good at both of them.
the people who say that ben is far too hot for aro are being stupit, because all vampires are beautifull!! even the ones who are 3000 years old.
