Edi Gathegi, who portrayed nomadic vampire Laurent in Twilight, was one of the many stars at this year’s SuperCon Sci-Fi Convention in Florida. Here’s an excerpt of an interview he did while there.

“So, you said that you have a lot of really good friends on the set of Twilight. Do you hang out with people outside the set?

Taylor [Lautner] and I hang out with Kellan [Lutz], and Peter Facinelli hosts game night, we play poker at his house. Rachelle [Lefevre] and I are food junkies so we meet for brunch and cake for brunch. So on the Twilight movies, it is like a Twilight family, we all get along and we all understand each other. It’s fun. Vamp-camp is what we named it. Welcome to Vamp Camp!”

At the end of the Twilight movie we saw an angry Victoria glaring at Bella and Edward. Anyone who has read New Moon will know that Victoria operates behind the scenes throughout the book to get at Bella so she can kill Edward’s “mate” the way Edward killed hers (James). This is important to the storyline but hard to get across in a movie if we never get to actually see the bad guy at work.

Ryan Rotten of Shock Till You Drop interviewed Rachelle Lefevre, the actress that plays Victoria, to see how much screen time she will get and it appears that the screenplay has been edited to make sure we get more “Victoria” time. My oldest son will be thrilled as Victoria is his favorite.

The books are all from Bella’s point of view,” she told me. “So there are things in New Moon that get talked about and are referred to, but don’t get described. Victoria spends all of New Moon trying to get to Bella. As a result, she fights werewolves and has encounters. They’ve basically tried to show more for the film. We want to keep the love triangle going, but we’ve kept more of the dark action, vampire-y stuff to keep those fans happy.”

Just like the Twilight screenplay had extras of the nomadic vampires so too will New Moon add scenes so that viewers will feel the tension that Bella and the vampires do as Victoria pursues her revenge.
